What is the difference between the JuiceBox Gold and the HEI Distributor upgrades & which is best for my vehicle?

The HEI is a complete distributor that uses a large distributor cap with male terminals. It has a built in ignition module and ignition coil which produces well over 30,000 volts of power to throw to your spark plugs. This is an electronic distributor and is "self-contained." No external modules or wire harnesses to deal with. It simply has ONE wire to hook up to a 12 volt source. 8mm or 8.5mm male terminal plug wires are used with this distributor.

The TFI kit is NOT a complete distributor. It is merely the necessary components to upgrade the existing electronic distributors used in 1978-90 Jeep engines by correcting the design flaws. These design flaws include a SMALL, close-terminal distributor cap with female ports, a weak 20,000 volt coil, and less than adequate gauge spark plug wires.

BOTH kits offer equivelant performance gains, however, the JuiceBox Kit is recommended to those who already have a Motorcraft style electronic distributor.  The HEI is a little more involved to install, however, it is suggested to those who have a "points-style" distributor and should upgrade to electronic.

BOTH kits use the exact same spark plug wires which are LIFETIME WARRANTY 8mm or 8.5mm custom fit.  Due to the HIGH ENERGY ignition coils, BOTH kits allow you to open your spark plug gap to 0.045" instead of 0.035", thus increasing the amount of spark being thrown to your piston chambers. This is where your performance gains come from.  More spark = more power, smoother idle, quicker cold starts, and improved fuel economy. Also, emissions are also usually reduced.

The JuiceBox is a lot less expensive for obvious reasons.  However, We recommend this kit over the HEI whenever possible because it does possess one other quality that makes it stand out in front...  You are more likely to pass local state emissions and visual check standards with this kit than with the HEI. In the event that you do NOT pass emissions or visual inspection, it is much simpler to put your Jeep back to "stock" in order to pass your visual inspection and then reinstall after you receive your sticker. The entire installation takes about 15 or 20 mins.

Hope this helps! Both of these kits are considered to be the single best upgrades you can make to your Jeep, barnone.  "Most bang for your buck!"
